U9
A club-wide effort saw our U9s taking the field for the Warren Lake Carnival, with players from four regular Saturday teams combining to represent Willetton Tee-ball. A beautiful day at a busy Yokine Reserve saw these tee-ballers playing together for the first time, and they got off to a great start with a draw against Kalamunda Firedogs. As the morning continued, their play improved, as did the quality of their opponents: A close result against Huntingdale Hellcats saw Willetton fall just short before a strong Perth Cubs Rockets ran away with the last game of the day. Many of the players that stepped in to support the U9 Panthers squad were also selected for the State Championships Willetton U9 squad, so a lot of these players will get a chance to build upon this united effort in the coming months. I look forwards to watching their progress!
U10
The u10 Jaguars traveled up to Yokine on a hot Sunday afternoon, to play in the Warren Lake Carnival. Despite the heat, the kids turned it on from the first siren and kept it up until the final ball was hit. We ended up with 3 wins from 4, including a very close 1-run loss to eventual silver medallist Kalamunda. The kids really put on a display, with some amazing catches, some fantastic hitting, and aggressive running. In true Willetton Wildcat spirit, everyone put their hand up and played their hearts out for each other. Needless to say, I am one very happy coach. A massive thanks to:
