2022 Round 5 – Braves Cup

Round 5 was the Braves Cup, hosted by Melville Tee-ball, and comprised a three-round lightning carnival for our U12, U8, U9, and U10 teams (the U11 competition was not contested due to insufficient teams). It is the first year we’ve competed in the Braves Cup, as it wasn’t held last year due to COVID. Team results are combined, and after some allowances for Byes and unequal team numbers, one club emerges victorious for each age division to win the perpetual trophy.

Friday:

U12s

Lynx: 3-0-0
Passive Heat: 3-0-0
Pumas: 2-0-1

Willetton: U12 Champion Club

U11s

Not contested: insufficient teams.

Saturday:

U8s

Bobcats: 2-0-1
Leopards: 2-1-0

Willetton: U8 Champion Club

U9s

Down on numbers, our Panthers and Cougars had a red-hot crack at the carnival, showing some great batting and fielding, and some extraordinary dance moves in between plays! While we didn’t come away with the trophy, we did earn the respect (and the lollies) of our opponents!

U10s

Lions: 3-0
Tigers: 2-0
Jaguars: 3-0

Willetton: U10 Champion Club

The Willetton Lions participated in the braves cup this weekend. For a fair few of our kids, it was the first time they’d participated in anything like this. We had a smaller team of just 9 due to prior commitments and a bout of Covid. The kids played their absolute hearts out and came away with a clean sweep. The absolute joy on their faces as they not only celebrated their team’s win but also their club’s win was beautiful to watch. We had a couple of home runs, spectacular slides, and the most impressive tumble by Ethan that had everyone in fits, but most of all we had brilliant teamwork that comes from listening to our coach, and the strong bond the kids have with each other and their coach.

The Willetton Jaguars took part in the Braves Cup [this weekend]. The kids were switched on from the beginning through to the very end. 3 wins from 3 games, with all players putting on some aggressive batting and running. Their glovework was on display today, with some excellent plays. A massive effort to match the massive personality of this team.
Willetton got the overall club win in the U10 division, so congrats to all the teams.
